Through interviews we get to know how people view soulmates and if they think they have met them. As we dive into their stories, interviews flow into animation, showing how different and wonderful each one of them is. People are telling their real experiences, sad or happy, nostalgic or hopeful. Strangers on screen become friends to the audience.
The film was made to create a comfort and home-like atmosphere where people get real and vulnerable, talking about people they care about the most. The idea of the film appeared after I asked myself: "Do I have a soulmate?" The answer to that was "yes". To me, a “soulmate” is a best friend who you love unconditionally and can rely on in any situation. I found my soulmate in my family, my younger brother in particular. He is my best friend who is always there for me.
The film was made in collaboration with my younger brother, Daniyal, who at the moment was 13 years old and who composed the soundtrack for the film from scratch. The film is built on trust and love that I want to share with the world. With the help of my wonderful crew and interviewees, we created a documentary that would cheer people up in the moments of despair.
